Senate Receives and Confirms the Non-Executive Directors of CBN Board - Senator @RafiuIbrahim Yesterday Thursday 31st May, 2018, the Kwara South Senator, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim presented the report of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions on the screening for confirmation of the following persons as Non-Executive Directors of the Board of Central Bank of Nigeria. 1. Professor Ummu Ahmed Jalingo; 2. Professor Justitia Odinakachukwu; 3. Nnabuko, Professor Mike I. Obadan; 4. Dr. Abdu Abubakar; and 5. Adeola Adetunji. We Have Invested Heavily  in Human Capital Devt- Gov Ahmed Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Thursday disclosed that his government had in the last 7 years made considerable investment in human capital development in Kwara State. Speaking at a press conference at the Government house in Ilorin, Ahmed noted that both the health,  education and informal sectors had received various interventions.  In the education sector, Ahmed he pointed to renovation of 400 blocks of classrooms, reduction of tuition fee by 30% at the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, establishment of KWASU school of Engineering as well as the establishment of International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurial College, Ajase-Ipo. We’ve Modestly Fulfilled Our Campaign Promises – Gov. Ahmed The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed says despite lean resources, his administration had modestly fulfilled its campaign promises to the people of the State. Governor Ahmed who stated this on Thursday in Ilorin during a special interactive session with journalists to mark the 7th year anniversary of his administration, however, said he would have loved to do more.    He said that he ran for office on a platform of ‘continuity’ and that in line with this, his government had completed all the projects inherited from the previous administration. KWSG DENIES DEMOLISHING BUILDINGS IN ILORIN SOUTH The Kwara State Government has denied demolishing properties in the Kara area of Zango in Ilorin South Local government council of the state. According to a statement by the Director General of the Kwara State Bureau of Lands, Alhaji Ibrahim Salman, the buildings, including that of Alhaji Lukman Mustapha, the Chairman of Sobi FM, Ilorin, were demolished by community leaders in exercise of a court judgment authorizing them to take possession of the land. While exonerating the Kwara State Government from involvement in the unfortunate demolition of the properties, Alhaji Ibrahim said the land in question was sold to the beneficiaries by Ilorin South Local Council but were however issued with land documents by the State Bureau of Lands in exercise of its powers under the state urbanization law. According to him, the community subsequently secured a court judgment to recover the lands on the grounds that it was no longer being used

Cultism: Kwara Govt Expresses Concern over Transfer of Suspects to Abuja The Kwara State Government has expressed concern over the transfer of four suspected cultists,  arrested in the state, by the state police command to Abuja. IVTEC Matriculates 123 Pioneer Students  The International Vocational, Training and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC), Ajase-Ipo has matriculated 123 pioneer students, with a pledge to focus on creating jobs after the training.  The number includes indigent students, who are beneficiaries of the scholarship provided by the Kwara State Government and drawn from the 16 local governments (LGs) of the state. Speaking at the matriculation ceremony on Thursday, the acting rector of IVTEC, Dr Ade Somide disclosed that 125 students were admitted but only 123 of them have commenced training at the College. He added that 10 independent students, who benefited from the 70 per cent reduction in tuition fee approved by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, were also part of the matriculating students. Kwara State JAAC Share 1.8 Billion For The Month Of April

JAAC: Kwara LGs Share N814m, Teachers Get N1.073b for April The 16 local government councils in Kwara State are to share the sum of N814,920,591.05 from the State Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) for the month of April, 2018. This amount includes the 10% of the State government’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) distributable for the month, representing N43,458,040.87. Chairman of the State chapter of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Joshua Omokanye disclosed this while addressing journalists after the JAAC meeting on Wednesday in Ilorin, the State capital. Omokanye, who doubles as the Chairman of Oyun local government, said gross statutory allocation for the councils stood at N1,746,457,018.07, Value Added Tax (VAT) of N450,296,350.94 and exchange gain difference of N225,051,126.27. He explained that the sum of N167,307,334.86 was deducted at source as repayment for the councils’ salary related borrowings from banks. Other deductions according
