It is very paramount for people to know that sometimes a righteous man might fail in front of a strong man. But, if as a result of that the lamp fails to light the world once in a while, won’t the world be consumed by darkness?

That is the case of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki who has dared what many couldn’t. It is difficult to find someone in this dispensation to fight and confront central power twice except Bukola Saraki. Happy birthday to such a man, who on two occasions picked due process for national prosperity above rigging the future of the nation.

On many occasions, the erstwhile President of the Senate proved that obstacles are what one sees when the eyes are taken off the goal. On numerous occasion, the 8th Senate passed a vote of confidence on their President as a message that they trust his capacity and competence to lead them through the storm, a storm that was to make the 8th senate eventful, torturous and tasking. Yet, Saraki prevailed. Despite being troubled, you know how to comfort your followers by giving them confidence, bearing the misery and pains alone.

Even those that sponsored calumnies and vilified your person know the truth which without trouble and extra efforts is now becoming clear to the people of the state. 

The man whose absence in the legislative chamber has allowed Nigerians to consciously and unconsciously hold dearly the importance of an independent assembly in Nigeria. This is not a mere opinion but fact, that some people tried to de-market you don’t make you devoid of your deserved merit. A meticulous politician with tenacious spanning, the greatest political player of 21st century. I mean, who would have thought you would emerge as Senate President in such a politically guided atmosphere that could have deprived Nigerians your excellence? 

Quite agreeable, all leaders make mistakes, however, mistakes are meant to be corrected or forgiven. Additionally, those who know the importance of victory are those that have lost before, only such a person can be through victor. 

Sometimes, thinking about you can make one imagine your source of intelligence and political smartness that even your detractors consented to, agreed to and admitted during the plot of your CCT trial. The very first-person declaration of lawfare and media battle was declared against. Unimaginable propaganda was sold to dismiss you, the “pirates in power” were not concerned about the progress of the nation but to exploit the people whom you have through your confidence and strength assisted in stabilizing the administration which is now without a leader. 

It is quite sad that even before your people, politics was picked above progress and development. The reference point of administrative performance both in the state and the federal legislature has always been in contest with your achievements and remarkable feat. 

It must be that the only thing that matters in politics is “interest” as it does not give credence to intelligence, brilliancy, smartness, competence, capacity among others. Isn’t it unfortunate that people will dismiss a person on moral sentiments and propaganda than weighing important options that affect them as people? Isn’t it unfortunate that analysts, writers and the media misguided the people instead of guiding them or did they forgot they are also a form of an educational institution where knowledge and information acquired cannot be dismissed anyhow?

Isn’t it surprising, that after stabbing you, the sword is now pointed to those who have disagreements over the sharing formula for the spoils of war? You’ve attained everything a person can, nor can anyone or a family boast or contend the achievements of your father or yours. Find peace and satisfaction in your loss, reflect in those moments and come back stronger. This time as a leader for all, regardless of who throw the stones, your kindness and a good person should continue to depress them. 

People were charged to take arms to kill a wounded tiger mistaken for killing their livestock, unknowingly, at the centre of their city was “Cesar the Hannibal” who has eaten not only the livestock raw but also eating their children along. Since Saraki left Senate, to this day, no one has brought a case of corruption or mismanagement before the public during your time as Senate President. 

The only set of people left are those who out of insecurity and tasting a dose of their own medicine continue to manufacture lies against you. They've sold and mentioned you then "we", you followers. It's understandable, a house built on propaganda will collapse on propaganda. 

Happy birthday to the man who spoke the truth to power and paid dearly for it!
