Re : Dissecting Senator Bukola Saraki's homecoming

By Tijani Olaegbe
This same post appeared in the Sunday Punch of November 22, 2020 on page 34. Showing that the piece enjoyed wider coverage than just social media as may be assumed. To that extent and the fact that the story was authored by one Alabi Olayemi Abdulrazak said to be a political researcher in Ilorin, Kwara State, inflamed my passion to run a critique/review of the position, perception, insinuation, projection and prognosis of the writer.

However, going forward, the good aspect of the story was that Alabi Olayemi Abdulrazak endeavoured to, whether by omission or Commission, consciously or unconsciously, put his biases on the table for discerning minds to observe and analyse.

Obviously, with available facts and evidence, such bias position always diminishes intellectual capacity to pen without denying or sacrificing the reality of SECOND STORY.

Indeed there is second story as the celebrated novelist, the woman of note, Chimamanda Adichie made us to know that second story is out there for those who care. The novelist reiterated and I quote, that, "the single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with the stereotypes is not that they are (true or) untrue, but they are incomplete". And she concluded by asserting that, "single stories make one story become the only story".
Therefore, going by the above submissions of the novelist, Alabi Olayemi Abdulrazak's assessment, affirmation and categorical interpretation of the homecoming of Senator Bukola Saraki which was coloured as the single story was guilty of the argument of the novelist that, "inherent in the power of stories, is a danger _ the danger of knowing only one story about a person, group,  culture or even an event."

Therefore, the story as framed and presented, if not critically dissected may lead to fixation and irrationality as to the nature, form and shape of Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki in relation to his heroic homecoming.

So, the discourse on the above subject matter is a jaundiced judgement, envious and prejudiced. It is nothing but an exhibition of irrational hostile attitudes that has been the hallmark of anti Bukola Saraki group, majorly, the gullible elites who out of laziness and incompetence could not contain the large political map of a man favoured by providence and fate.

Yes, agreed that crowd means nothing in politics most especially in an emerging democracy like Nigeria that is poverty capital but can't such tumultuous crowd for a man who was rejected at the polls a couple of months back with a stigma coupled with the mainstream opinion that it was over for him, send signal that human nature cannot attune to a state of affairs in which government had lost its original sense of mission.

Now that Kwarans have tasted Otoge administration with its attendant woes and frustration, did it not occur to our researcher that there is basis for Kwarans to juxtapose the two regimes side by side for contrast and comparison? Does it require rocket science to know that Ramoni has become remiss in the faithful observance of his mandate and pre election campaign promises?

In view of all above, I submit unequivocally that the surge of human population that welcomed the homecoming of Senator Bukola Saraki was a manifestation of the outcome of the comparison between Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's failed administration and that of his predecessor summed up as "O suwa o" mantra.

At another level, when did using helicopter become a crime, most especially for an individual whose declaration of asset documents read billions of naira and that was before his sojourn in the Government House as Governor of Kwara State?

Did Alabi Olayemi Abdulrazak expect Senator Bukola Saraki to come home in a bus or taxi?

Really, it is height of wicked submission. Very unfeeling and most unfortunate.

The writer maliciously and fraudulently presented Senator Bukola Saraki as a leader who had learnt nothing. This is incredible! Within how many hours of his stay in Kwara? What instrument or technology did he use to xray Senator Bukola Saraki?

Well, the reality on ground today is that Kwarans are wiser than before. All these campaign of calumnies, blackmailing, name calling, lies and deceits cannot work and will never work again.

In conclusion, it is always a blessing to experience the other side of the world. So it is for Otoge and those on the other side.
