Offa Robbery: KWYSM Caution Lai Mohammed Against Overheating The Polity.

The Kwara Youth Strategic Movement, has cautioned strongly the Minister of Information and Culture Alh. Lai Mohammed from making unguarded statements that are capable of overheating the polity and causing political instability.

The civil society organization in a statement released in Ilorin on Sunday, signed by the Coordinator Ambassador Gegele Ahmed Ibrahim on behalf of the group, said Alh. Lai Mohammed has a demonstrated proclivity for propagating outright falsehood and peddling misinformation, which it described as unacceptable.

Recall, that the Minister had accused the Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki of trivializing the Offa Bank Robbery, by saying that he had donated N10million to the Offa Monarch as compensation for the victims.

Reacting to Mohammed's claim, the group said that Mohammed was only being clever by half by insinuating that the Senate President had a hand in the Offa Bank Robbery.

"We are completely taken aback, by the statement credited to the Minister of information and culture Alh. Lai Mohammed, in an attempt to score cheap political points, linking the Senate President with the Offa Bank Robbery.

It is on record that Alhaji Lai Mohammed, is a politician that is renowned for going overboard, by fabricating unsubstantiated allegations and peddling misinformation.

In the case of the Offa Bank Robbery, it is common place that the suspects arrested in connection with the Robbery neither implicated the Senate President or dropped his name in the course of investigation, despite unrestrained attempt by his Political adversaries to implicate him.

The Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki,  responded in writing to the Police when he was asked to do so, reiterating his innocence. and till date, neither the Nigerian Police or any court of competent jurisdiction has found him culpable.

Why then should a revered politician and senior citizen like Alhaji Lai Mohammed who should be an epitome of peaceful coexistence and an advocate for the rule of law, go completely berserk by claiming that the Senate President had a hand in the robbery.

We call on the Minister of Information not to throw caution to the wind in an attempt to score cheap political points.

He must always remember that we all have a binding duty to uphold the ethos of fairness, equity and justice, any departure from this acceptable standard is disingenious, mischievous and wicked!

The non political organization, also implored the general public to avoid playing politics with the unfortunate incident and to avoid making statements that is capable of causing confusion especially at this critical period when the 2019 elections is fast approaching.

FAAC: Kwara to Receive N3.2b as April Allocation as LGs Get N2.4b Kwara State Government has revealed its federal allocation figures for April 2019. In statement issued in Ilorin on Wednesday, the State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu said the state government will receive N3,279,896,086.07 as federal allocation for April. The April allocation, according to Banu, comprises statutory allocation of N1,984,735,503.59, Value Added Tax (VAT) amounting to N865,451,596.07, exchange gain of N3,605,662.04, foreign exchange equalisation of N71,405,769.35, additional NNPC funds amounting to N54,568,854.62 as well as goods and valuable contribution of N300,128,700.40.
