Kwara Alert: Why Kwarans Must Reject APC and its candidate in 2019
As the 2019 general elections draw nearer, it is pertinent to urge Kwarans not to be deceived or cajoled by the vindictiveness and desperation of those whose only mission is to dethrone the Saraki political structure in the State. I refer to the people who have failed to clearly tell us their plans for the State and how they want to achieve them, but have made known to us through their antics that their only agenda is to hijack power from Dr Bukola Saraki. Again, I say let’s not be cajoled.
It is not surprising to see that their only campaign is to launch endless propaganda, deceptions and campaign of calumny against Saraki, rather than presenting and convincing Kwarans with their manifesto or what reforms they are going to implement. Do they even have any? Nothing could be farther from the truth.
As we gradually move to 2019, Kwarans must begin to assess and engage those who are seeking to succeed the incumbent governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed. And in assessing these candidates, we must ask pertinent questions relating to the background, experience, education and capacity of those candidates. It is not just enough for people to come out to say they want to be governor, we must question their experience, readiness and plans for us and our dear State.
I make bold to say that of the governorship candidates of the two leading candidates in Kwara State, Hon. AbdulRazaq Atunwa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains the best man for the job. As a former commissioner in the State, former speaker of the State Assembly and current member of the Federal House of Representatives, Atunwa ostensibly possesses both the executive and legislative experience to pilot the affairs of Kwara.
None of the candidates from other parties has worked in Kwara more than he has. None of them has much understanding of governance and people of the State. He is the closest to the people and knows their plights and aspirations.
More so, Atunwa appears to be the most prepared of all the governorship candidates. Since his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate, Atunwa has expressly shown his preparedness for the job through his consultations and meetings with all categories of people in the State ranging from professionals in the private sector, traditional rulers, members of the political class, religious leaders, youth and women groups – sharing with them his lofty plans for the State and also seeking their contributions on how Kwara can be better developed and transformed.
In 2019, Kwarans have a choice of electing a man (Atunwa) who is young, energetic, experienced, educated and adequately prepared for the task ahead and a man who is old, jaded, uneducated, ill-experienced, unprepared and whose party’s only agenda is to dismantle the existing political structure in the State.
Kwarans must reject a man whose emergence was fraudulent and made possible by cabals in Lagos and Abuja, who have not the interests of Kwarans at heart but are only vindictive and desperate to expand their evil dominance to Kwara and hijack all structures – both political and economic - in the State. They are desperate to add Kwara to the list of obsequious states they are currently exploiting. The evil design of the APC will not succeed in Kwara.
Kwarans must reject a man who is completely disconnected from the people, and has not at any time invested in the people or empower them. Kwarans must reject a man who has all this while distanced himself from them and only returned with his co-travellers on the eve of election to deceive them.
One of the lies of the APC campaign is the pretense that they are Kwara liberators and want to emancipate Kwara. This is nothing but pure deceit. All the people in the APC are all out to serve their personal interests, which was clearly reflected in the manner at which the party’s primaries were conducted and the crises that followed the outcome of the primaries.
In order to serve and promote their selfish interests, the Abuja and Lagos cabals led by the Capo Di Tutti, Bola Tinubu (apologies to Governor Ibikunle Amosun) imposed their candidate on the party. The crises that greeted the fallout of the primaries showed that the APC members did not vote for the unlettered and unpopular Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq – he was forced on the party by the Abuja and Lagos cabals. In 2019, Kwarans cannot afford to handover their State to a party of strangers and cabals that will be ruling them from Abuja and Lagos.
It is very obvious that faced with these choices, Kwarans will in 2019 vote for a man who is better prepared, accessible and experienced to lead the State to greater heights. Kwarans will vote a man under whose mandate, Kwara will be witnessing continued transformation.
By the grace of God and the overwhelming support of Kwarans, Hon. Abdulrazaq Atunwa will on May 29, 2019 be sworn in as the next governor of Kwara State.
