KWASU Ilesha Baruba: KWSG charges contractor on early completion

The Kwara State Government has charged the contractor handling Ilesha- Baruba campus of Kwara State University to expedite effort in ensuring timely completion of the project.

The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Abdullahi Alikinla who gave the charge at Ilesha-Baruba when he inspected the project, stressed the need for the contractor to redouble the pace of work and deliver the project on schedule.

Barrister Alikinla, who expressed displeasure over the low pace of work, pointed out that the pace was slow compared to Ekiti and Ilorin KWASU campuses which are also under construction.

The Commissioner therefore, tasked the consultant and contractor to redouble their efforts by mobilising resources and workforce for timely completion of the project.

According to him,"The government will not tolerate any act of indolence from any contractor. So work should be commensurate with the
fund released to contractors  despite the paucity of fund".

He emphasised that the state  government is committed to the early completion of the project with a view to commencing academic activities.

Conducting the commissioner round the site, the Project Consultant, Architect Jamiu Faworaja who spoke through Engr Seun Ojo, said the project started three months after Osi and Ilorin campuses had begun.

The consultant said the project started in March, this year and had attained 22 per cent completion, promising that work will be expedited to ensure completion and delivery of the project early next year.

Architect Faworaja explained that the team of consultants were working round the clock to ensure that the contractor adheres strictly to specifications.

Speaking on behalf of the Contractor, Engineer Tunji Folami, said the project was designed to start after stabilising the two other campuses under construction, saying that the project would be executed in line with specifications.

Buildings under construction at the Ilesha baruba campus are; Departmental building, Lecture Hall, Staff Quarters, Hostel and Gate House.
