Kwara SUBEB Debunks Claim of Politicizing New Teaching Jobs

Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) has debunked an online publication that applicants for the 1850 new teaching jobs announced by the government were directed to secure endorsement from their Ward Chairmen.

The SUBEB chairman, Alhaji Abdulkareem Lambe, in a statement released on Monday in Ilorin, said the ongoing recruitment was driven by  established need and will be based on merit rather than political patronage.

He disclosed that the applicants were only required to submit their job applications to the office of the Local Government Education Secretary (SUBEB) in their respective local government councils and not ward chairpersons.

Alhaji Lambe added that, in line with the directive of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, the board will follow due process in the recruitment exercise and spread it across the 193 wards in the state to ensure even distribution.

It would be recalled that, Governor Ahmed recently approved the employment of 1,850 basic and senior secondary school teachers to fill shortage of teachers in science subjects and create fresh employment in the state.
