Kwara Govt Advises Corps Member on National Development
Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed has advised Batch 'B' Corps members in the county to adopt a conscientious approach in the activities of the ongoing orientation course to channel their acquired skills and intellect towards national development.
The Governor was speaking through his Head of Service Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole, who represented him at the Sweerin-in ceremony of the 2018 Batch 'B' Orientation held at NYSC Orientation Camp, Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor said, the Scheme was established by Federal Government to play key role in the drive towards achievement of national integration and building of a strong and egalitarian Nigeria that we can be proud of.
He added that, "You are fulfilled in a special way today, because the hopes and aspirations of our great country puts premium on the moral and physical development of the youth for better and greater tomorrow.
"The onus now rest on you to be physical, psychology and social ready to face rigorous of nation building as fully fledge adult Nigerians who are well imbued with the attributes of good citizenship, patriotism, discipline, good conduct, honesty, hardwork your watchwords through the various training you will be exposed to in the course of this 3-Week orientation exercise and thereafter.
Also speaking, the chairman, NYSC Kwara State Governing Board and Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Muideen Olaniyi Alalade, congratulated and saluted the corps members for their prompt response, level of discipline demonstrated since arriving the Camp.
The Commissioner said, this is a call to service and could not have come at a better time than now, when the country requires the knowledge you have acquired in tackling the numerous challenges facing the nation.
The Commissioner reinstated the commitment of the Kwara state government through the NYSC Governing Board to continue supporting the scheme in achieving all its lofty aims and objectives and no stone will be left unturned in making your stay in Kwara state a comfortable and memorable.
Earlier in her speech, the NYSC, State Coordinator, Mrs Ikupolati Esther Tosin, said she was delighted to welcome all the invited quests present at the swearing-in Ceremony of the newly adopted 2018 Batch 'B' stream 1 corps members.
While commending the Kwara state government for its support at all time Ikupolati, specifically commended the the State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Muideen Olaniyi Alalade, for the renovation and construction of toilets in the camp saying, this has contributed to the smooth take off of orientation course .
The State Coordinator, gave the total number of the corps members at the close of registration yesterday as: 1,000 male and 900 femal totalling 1,900 corps members.
She Seized the medium to request for provision of more facilities like, more chairs, premier fencing of the camp, building of additional hostels, provision of more bunk bed and mattresses, provision of utility hilux van and many more.
