I Have No Hand in Recruitment of New KWASU VC: Governor Ahmed Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed says it is entirely the prerogative of the Kwara State University’s (KWASU) Governing Council to recruit a new Vice Chancellor as the incumbent’s tenure expires. Governor Ahmed, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr Muyideen Akorede, said social media claims that he attempting to teleguide the selection process of a new Chief Executive for KWASU in favour of particular candidates are completely untrue. While dismissing the post currently circulating on social media as an attempt to blackmail him, Governor Ahmed also dissociated his office or his aides from any attempt to foist anyone on the university as Vice Chancellor. Alhaji Ahmed said he has been briefed by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, KWASU’s supervisory ministry,  that the University is yet to receive any response to it...

FAAC: Kwara Gets N3.3b for March as LGs Receive N2.4b The Kwara State Government is to receive a sum of N3,307,918,431,91 as allocation from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) March  2019. The State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, made this known in a statement released in Ilorin on Thursday. Banu disclosed that the State Government’s allocation was made up of statutory receipt of N2,135,323,050.74, Value Added Tax (VAT) of N901,610,816.11exchange gain of N4,725,434.41, excess bank charges of N25,193,474.21, and foreign exchange equalisation N241,065,656.44. Explaining further, Banu said the 16 Local Government Councils in the State are to receive N2,425,638,638,39 as allocation for March. According to the Commissioner, the council’s allocation comprises statutory allocation of N1,735,851,170.04, VAT of N511,054,779.12, exchange gain of N3,116,744.30, excess bank charges of N16,616,803.97 and foreign exchange equalisation of N158,999...

Kwara Government Reveals Debt Profile The Kwara State Government clarified that, contrary to public speculation, the state’s current debt portfolio stands at N30,203,632,608.29 with a monthly repayment of N496,367,109.08. According to the State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, the debt stood at N31,481,082,712.95 in 2017 and N30,751,665,421.83 at the end of 2018, contrary to social media speculation of N50.2b. Giving a breakdown of the current indebtedness, Banu explained that the N30.2b includes N15,325,541,483.03 as the balance of the Federal Government restructured loan, N4,002,948,667.07 as salary bail out, excess crude account loan outstanding of N9,324,613,607.52 and vehicle loan balance of N128,916,612.87. KWSG Pays February Salary The Kwara State Government has commenced the payment of February salary to state civil servants. The State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, who made the announcement in Ilorin On Wednesday, said civil servants started receiving their salaries from today. The Commissioner attributed the delay in payment to late receipt of January federal allocation from the Central Bank of Nigeria. Alhaji Banu said although the monthly federal accounts allocation committee meeting (FAAC) was held last week in Abuja, the state government only received the allocation on Tuesday and promptly commenced the payment of workers salaries. The commissioner assured civil servants that the state government will continue to prioritise workers welfare and urged them to disregard attempts by politicians to politicize issues concerning workers welfare.

JAAC :Kwara LGs share  N745.4m, teachers get N1.1bn February The 16 Local Government Areas in Kwara State have shared  N745,463,472.03 from the State Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) for the month of  February, as all categories of workers would begin to recieve their february salaries. The Chairman , Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Joshua Omokanye disclosed this while addressing newsmen after the JAAC meeting held at the Ministry of Finance Conference room Ilorin on Monday. The  State  Universal Education Board (SUBEB) teachers got N1,172,676,755.21 billion from this month (February) allocation.
